  • You need an excellent command over the English language. A transcriptionist should be able to put sense into its record. If your English grammar is poor, you may end up changing the meaning of some information.
  • You have to be extremely proficient handling the computer and comfortable working with a word processor. You should be able to use the computer and medical transcription software without a hitch.

  • You should be willing and able to work independently. A medical transcriptionist should be able to work on his/her own without supervision. This requires extreme maturity and discipline.

  • You should be willing and able to research independently. You have to refer to external materials and research in case of a difficult medical record.
