When you work in an office, you are required to work with the parameters of time, space, and other things set for you. At home, you get to set the parameters. If you are lenient with yourself, there are chances you will ruin the work. Being your own boss is more difficult than you think. So, how can you handle the work at home? Here are a few guidelines:

  • Make a routine that has room for work, household chores, and family time.
  • Try to finish work before you attend to your domestic or social responsibilities.
  • Work like you are in an office. Don’t do anything else during your work hours and don’t take work beyond those hours.
  • Don’t switch the television or radio on even during the breaks in your work.
  • Take a logical break every hour or so.

Remember, these guidelines are generic. You are the best person to set rules for working at home. You know your limitations and you can handle them the best. Our advice: don’t jump into home-based work without analyzing if you can handle it.
