Medical Transcription Training

If you understand the importance of the medical transcription training, you would not join just any. Remember, it is the training that paves your way into the specialized profession. You just have the aptitude before it the training; the training imparts the skills to take on the real work. So, you have gotta be careful when deciding on a course. Here are some tips to help you zero in on one:

  • Find out if the course conforms to the COMPRO (competency profile for medical transcription education) guidelines as stated by the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI).
  • Check about the number of dictation hours in the course. A good course should contain a high number of hours of dictation and the dictation should be authentic. Avoid the courses that contain dictations recorded by actors instead of doctors. The practice with dictations is what prepares you for your job.
  • Make sure the course is followed by some kind of job assistance. A good institute will have industry connections to help your entry into it easy. Also, go through the placement figures of earlier batches to understand the effectiveness of an institute’s placement assistance.
  • Find out what the former students have to say about the course. You can find reviews of the course on the Internet. You will get a fair idea of a medical transcription course from what people write in forums and discussion boards. You can also get in touch with the former students and get an idea from them.

Also, make it a point to compare different courses. The first course you come across may be good but it may not be the best.
